Slideshow: Astoria, Ore., pilot boats

In March, the Columbia River Bar Pilots took delivery of the Astoria, their third pilot boat designed by Camarc in the U.K. and built by Kvichak Marine Industries in Seattle. The Astoria — and her sisters — are 75-footers with 2,800 hp MTUs and Hamilton waterjets.

Astoria, Oregon, is also the home of the Connor Foss, a new in 2012 pilot boat built and operated by Foss Maritime. The Camarc-Kvichak twin-screw design measures 63’x17′.
