Associated Federal Pilots & Docking Masters of Louisiana, LLC is seeking skilled Crew Boat Operator

We are looking for a skilled and responsible Boat Operator to join our team operating 40' - 60' boats. The ideal candidate will have experience of operating a crew/pilot boat. As a Boat Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, ensuring the safety of passengers and crew. You will also be expected to perform general vessel maintenance, follow maritime laws and regulations, and respond effectively to emergency situations. Familiarity with Cummins and Volvo engines is desired. The Boat Operator must be knowledgeable in navigating weather patterns, and usage of maritime communication systems. Familiarity with ZF controls, radar, chart plotters and modern marine electronics. This role will require working a regular work schedule of two weeks on and two weeks off. Key aspects of the role include pre departure inspections, route planning, monitoring fuel levels, and maintaining logs of all trips. Must be confident operating crew boats in narrow bayous and marine traffic. You will be responsible for ensuring all safety equipment is stocked and in working order. Must have strong problem-solving skills and can remain calm under pressure. A valid 100-ton coast guard license is required along with a clean driving and criminal record. Physical fitness and the ability to work in varying weather conditions such as fog, heavy rain and rough seas are also important. Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with a small crew. Basic cooking skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Requirements
• Valid 100-ton Coast Guard license
• Proven experience operating various types of boats
• Strong knowledge of navigation and maritime safety
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends
• Good physical condition and stamina
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with maritime communication systems
• Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
• Basic mechanical and maintenance skills
• Clean driving and criminal record
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Customer service experience a plus
