Petaluma-Ca.-based Moose Boats has been awarded from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for the construction of two M2-35 outboard catamarans for patrol and emergency rescue response in the waters surrounding JFK and LaGuardia airports.

The M2-35 aluminum catamarans will be powered by twin Yamaha 350hp outboards, are equipped with a self-contained Darley fire pump and are each capable of carrying and deploying 20 twelve-person life rafts.

Capable of 45 knots, the M2-35 vessels have a large working cockpit with a dive-door on the starboard side to allow for fast deployment of life rafts and water recoveries. The air-conditioned cabins are outfitted with shock-mitigating seats, an EMS bench and an array of high-intensity LED scene lighting.

The navigation and electronics suite is comprised of Furuno NavNet3D, ICOM and Motorola Communications and FLIR thermal imaging equipment.ons

The two new Moose M2-35 Catamarans are sister ships to the four M2-35 vessels built for the New York City Police Department. The boats will join the growing fleet of Moose vessels in service in the Tri-state area operated by the U.S. Park Police, New York Naval Militia, Bridgeport Police Department, Old Saybrook Fire Department and New Jersey State Police.
