Woods Hole Group has named Robert P. (Bob) Hamilton Jr. president of the organization, effective immediately to lead the next stage of growth. Dennis Aubrey, who served as president since 2001, transitioned the office to Hamilton, and will serve as CEO.

Hamilton has been with the company since 1994, most recently as vice president for business development. Under his leadership, the Falmouth, Mass.-based environmental scientific and engineering consulting organization continued to build a strong backlog with multi-year contractual commitments. Hamilton had previously served as civil/coastal engineer, business unit director, and vice president for scientific operation

In his new role, he will oversee operations for the company’s four offices in Massachusetts, Delaware, Florida and Texas. Building on the company’s sales growth and profitability in recent years, Hamilton identifies priorities for the business as retaining and attracting personnel, adding financial strength and growing revenue. Key growth areas are related to climate change planning, offshore energy development and ecological services.

“Bob’s experience at Woods Hole Group and the respect in which he is held by our staff and our customers make him the ideal choice to assume the role of president of the company,” Aubrey says in a company news release. “I am very confident that under his leadership we will see Woods Hole Group grow both in profitability and technical reputation.”

“Our primary strength is our talented staff,” Hamilton says. “I am confident that our new technologies for numerical modeling and real-time environmental measurements provide a foundation for profitable growth.”

Hamilton received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Lehigh University, and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the Center for Applied Coastal Research at the University of Delaware. Originally from Maryland, he lives in Falmouth, Mass., with his wife and two children.
