Cox Powertrain is returning to the 2017 International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans with their pioneering professional diesel outboard motor the CXO300 and a raft of new developments ahead of its 2018 launch.

Targeted toward commercial, government and military marine applications, the CXO300 is the highest power density diesel outboard engine ever developed, the company said. Delivering 300 hp, it offers significantly lower running costs, longer service intervals and an expected lifecycle three times longer than its gasoline equivalent, according to Cox Powertrain.

Italian controls specialist Xenta Systems has recently been selected to supply the engine controls system for the CXO300. Xenta has developed a fully integrated engine control package, resulting in a highly intuitive control system that provides seamless maneuverability in close quarters.

Cox Powertrain also selected Murphy by Enovation Controls to supply the new PowerView 1200 display screen offering full-featured engine diagnostics on a powerful display screen. The 12.3" PowerView 1200 was chosen for its power, large memory and excellent connectivity. Both new control systems will be on display at the 2017 WorkBoat Show.

Cox Powertrain has developed an extensive global distributor and representative network ahead of their launch of the CXO300, comprising some of the most prominent diesel engine sales and service specialists in the U.S. They will be on hand at IWBS 2017. Cox Powertrain was founded in 2007 by Formula 1 motor racing designer David Cox to turn his concept of the Opposed Piston engine into reality.

Based in England, Cox engineers share a burning desire to deliver innovation with the potential to transofrm the marine market just as the first outboard engine did over a century ago.
