GulfMark Americas orders Solasolv sunscreens

UK-based Solar Solve Marine www.solasolv.com has received a series of orders from GulfMark Americas totaling more than $16,000 for its Solasolv class approved roller screens. The screens will be installed at the navigation bridge windows on four platform supply vessels — the Triple Play, First and Ten, Double Eagle and Hat Trick.

“A number of Solasolve screens were originally supplied by our Distributor in Singapore and installed when the vessels were built at Bollinger Shipyard in the USA back in 2007 and 2008.,” says Paul Hopkins, a Solar Solve Marine sales and marketing executive, in a company news release. “GulfMark has been installing Solasolv screens since 1997 and these latest orders shows that they must be satisfied with the quality, service and reliability that the Solasolv sunscreen brand offers.”

Houston-based GulfMark Americas operates and manages a modern fleet of offshore vessels, including PSVs, anchor handling, towing supply, fast supply, crewboats and specialty vessels.  Their primary business is marine transportation services supporting the upstream oil and gas industry.

Solasolv anti-glare screens are installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide. Solar Solve Marine says they reject up to 87 percent of heat and up to 93 percent of glare from the sun to significantly reduce eye-strain. Visual displays are easier to read and a clear outward view is maintained for safer navigation and marine operations, the company says.

Moreover, the company says, a more comfortable temperature means the ships’ crew are less prone to fatigue, which can cause human error.  Suitable for newbuilds and retrofits, Solasolv screens are guaranteed for seven years and are type approved by Lloyds, ABS and DNV.
