Sunday Sept. 6 marked a day of waterfront competition in New York City - the 23rd renewal of the Great North River Tugboat Race & Competition. Held annually the day before Labor Day, the Hudson River event also features nose-to-nose pushing contests, a line-toss competition, and a variety of other activities both on the water and on the shore. The Thornton Towing & Transportation tug took first place in Division C, while the overall winner in Division A was McAllister Towing's Robert E. McAllister.
