BargesExperts in efficient and economical construction of all varieties of barges, Nichols Brothers has built split hopper dredge barges and deck barges from 100 to 237 feet.
CatamaransNichols Brothers introduced high-speed catamarans to American waters in 1983, when an Alaska cruise operator presented NBBB a menu of unique requirements. NBBB has since built 53 Catamarans for river, inland waters and open sea conditions.
Dinner BoatsNichols Brothers Boat Builders treat passengers to beautiful interior appointments from which to enjoy scenery on rivers, lakes, and ocean bays. We build sleek, modern, triple-deck monohulls up to 332 feet, and sternwheelers (including working sternwheels along with Z-drives) up to 360 feet.
FerriesNichols Brothers builds an array of ferry vessel types. From Passenger-Only ferries including WETA 400 passenger high-speed ferries; to Car Ferries including Washington State's 144-Car Ferries, amongst many county ferries from California to Alaska.
FireboatsSince 2003 the Port of Los Angeles has enjoyed the security of one of the world’s most powerful and versatile fireboats. Designed by Robert Allan Ltd. and built by Nichols Brothers, the Los Angeles Fire Boat No. 2 carries diving equipment, a hypothermia treatment room, 6,000 gallons of foam, and can pump water at 38,000 gpm. This vessel is considered one of the top 10 most powerful fireboats in the world.
Military BoatsThe U.S. Navy’s X-Craft, launched in 2005, is amongst Nichols Brothers’ most noteable vessels. Its flight deck accommodates two helicopters, and the cargo deck can transport troops, vehicles, or 12 cargo containers. Two 34,000 BHP gas turbines provide speeds of 55+ knots. Uses may include battle force protection, assault support, and humanitarian aid.
Overnight BoatsAluminum catamarans adapt beautifully for excursion duty, offering excellent passenger comfort, seaworthiness, style, and attractive seat/mile costs. Special features can include gourmet galleys, advanced sound systems, and stoutly reinforced keels and stems designed for beach landings.
TugboatsNichols Brothers is continuously building tug boats for the US workboat market. From Tractor Tugs, Twin-Screw Line Haul Tugs and ATB Tugs; NBBB has built over 35 new construction tugs and has completely countless tug repair jobs.
Nichols Brothers has built several landing craft over the last 50+ years. From steel construction to steel hull with aluminum house structures, most operating in the harsh Alaskan environment, as far North as Barrow, Alaska.
