Farrell and Norton Naval Architects is a full service naval architecture firm that deals with all aspects of vessel design. The firm was established in 2000 and the managing partners have over 35 years of design experience of commercial craft. Farrell and Norton Naval Architects provide everything from a complete design package for shipyard construction to smaller consulting jobs. Capabilities include: stability analysis, structural finite element analysis on foundations and full hulls, resistance and powering, tonnage measurements, and conceptual design and specifications. We specialize in small commercial workboats including but not limited to: liftboats, pushboats, oil supply vessels, tugboats, fishing vessels and passenger boats. Recently, Farrell and Norton has become involved in wind farm technology and has worked on tubine installation vessels (TIV) and crew and service vessels designs.

70' x 28' Fleet PushboatThis 1550 Hp twin screw design is being built at B&B Boatyards in Bayou La Batre, Alabama, and 24 boats have currently been built. The vessel is designed to work along the Mississippi River as a fleet boat and aid in handling barges. The vessel has accommodations for 6 men and has an eye-level of 31’ above the design waterline. The vessels have capacity to carry 22,000 gallons of fuel and 5,200 gallons of fresh water. The vessels are powered with Caterpillar 3508B engines and turn 78” wheels.

96'x34'x10' Canal Towboats These 3200 HP towboats for Settoon Towing were built at Eastern Shipbiulding. There where a total of four vessel built to the same hull with different cabin configurations. 180'x65'x12' Clamshell Dredge Barge The clamshell bucket dredge has a 50 cu yrd lifting capacity and had daytime accommodations for the crew. Equipped with two fixed spuds and one walking spud the barge has limit manuerveability on its own. The barge is loadlined and full ABS classed.
80'x34' - 5000HP Tractor Tug
5000 HP Tractor TugThis 5000 HP tractor tug was design and delivered to Petchem, Inc to be used for submarine docking and ship assist. The vessel is equipped with two ZF Z-drives and powered by Cummins QSK60 engines. The vessel has accommodations for 4 men and has an eye-level of 25’ above the design waterline. The vessel has capacity to carry 21,000 gallons of fuel.
