QSB6.7

With exceptionally low cold-start smoke levels and significant sound reduction at cruise and rated speeds, Cummins new Tier 3-certified QSB6.7 provides a cleaner, quieter and more sociable environment compared with its predecessor, the QSB5.9. The engine offers unrivaled performance without sacrificing fuel economy.  The High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) fuel system is compatible with low-lubricity fuels. With the use of Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD), this engine offers extended oil-change intervals to provide operators more time on the water. Another notable feature is the Power Take-Off (PTO) capability. The power steering and hydraulic pumps are gear-driven, providing substantially improved reliability over belt-driven systems. For accessories that must be belt-driven, such as a clutched Freon® compressor, there is an additional belt-driven PTO location above the sea water pump. Commercial propulsion and military ratings range from 227 hp to 542 hp (170-404 kW), making the QSB6.7 an ideal solution for yachts, workboats, fishing boats, military vessels and high-speed Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs). Prime power ratings from 98 kW to 210 kW (132-282 hp) are also available for ship’s service and emergency genset power. To meet the customer demand for increased horsepower in keel cooled applications, Cummins is releasing new fuel calibrations to allow Intermittent Duty ratings in keel cooled boats. Early next year the following intermittent ratings will be released for keel-cooled applications: QSB6.7 425, QSB6.7 380 and QSB6.7 355. All three will be compatible with both single and dual-loop keel cooling configurations and will be certified to EPA Tier 3, IMO Tier II and EU Stage IIIa emission standards. For more information on the QSB propulsion product, click here; for the auxiliary product, click here.

QSC8.3

By refining the in-cylinder combustion recipe, Cummins has been able to meet Tier 3 regulations on the existing QSC8.3 engine without the addition of aftertreatment or other major hardware changes. The result is a cleaner engine with minimal impact to fuel economy, and no additional engineering costs to design the Tier 3 engine into existing vessel designs. Commercial propulsion and military ratings range from 493 hp to 593 hp (368-442 kW).  To meet the customer demand for increased horsepower in keel cooled applications, Cummins is releasing new fuel calibrations to allow Intermittent Duty ratings in keel cooled boats. First out is the QSC 500 at 2600 RPM intermittent duty rating, available November 2014. QSK19

The EPA Tier 3-certified QSK19 features the same premium base engine hardware and footprint as the Tier 2 product. Further, the lubrication, cooling, air handling, fuel and exhaust systems have the same design as the current product, ensuring minimum disruption for series-built vessels or replacement engines. As with Tier 2, the Tier 3 engine is available with Cummins C Command panels, the CENTINEL™ Oil Management System and the ELIMINATOR™ filter to help monitor and reduce the cost of operation and maintenance. With Tier 3 ratings from 660 hp to 800 hp (492-597 kW), the QSK19 is ideally suited for high-hour, demanding applications, including offshore support, towing, cargo and passenger transport, ship’s service power and diesel electric propulsion. Because all ratings fall below 600 kW, the QSK19 will not be impacted by the EPA’s Tier 4 emissions regulation and will not require aftertreatment.
