VT Halter Marine’s drydock opens ahead of schedule

Pascagoula, Miss.-based VT Halter Marine, a subsidiary of VT Systems, Inc., today announced its newest facility, a 12,000-MT Floating Drydock, is now open for business and already has its first customers.

The 546’x105’x46′ dock is part of an overall expansion plan at the south yard in Pascagoula, where VT Halter Marine is also adding a repair facility for semi-submersible drilling rigs and Panamax-size ships. Development of this new facility will create as many as 400 new jobs, the company said.

The addition of the floating drydock will establish VT Halter Marine as a repair facility, the company said.┬áBill Skinner, CEO of VT Halter Marine announced the start of repair operations that will make the facility “a one stop solution for our customers.”
