TWIC card reader rule cleared

On March 12, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) said that it had completed regulatory review of the Coast Guard’s proposed rule on the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card reader requirements. The TWIC Card Reader NPRM should be published in the Federal Register soon. The Coast Guard has been mandated to establish electronic card reader requirements for maritime facilities and vessels to be used in combination with TWIC cards. Barring any other delays, publication in the Federal Register could come by the end of this month or in early April.
