Staten Island Ferry seeks design consultant

NEW YORK – The New York City Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division released a request for proposals last week for the “Total Design and Construction Support Services for the Construction of New and Modified Staten Island Ferries.” The NYDOT plans to build new ferries to replace the existing Barberi- and Kennedy-class ferries based on the design developed by the consultant selected through the RFP, according to the press release. The consultant could also be tasked with designing enhancements to the existing Molinari-class ferries.

To obtain a copy of the RFP, interested parties are asked to visit the Doing Business with DOT website at or contact Ryan Murray at (212) 839-9733.

Sealed proposals must be submitted by Aug. 17 to the Contract Management Unit at 55 Water Street, Ground Floor, New York, NY 10041. An optional pre-proposal conference will be held on July 25 at 2 p.m. at 55 Water Street, Ground Floor Conference Room, in New York.
