Robichaux to provide propulsion system for Bordelon PSVs

Robichaux Automation and Control has been contracted by Bordelon Marine to design and supply hybrid diesel electric propulsion equipment to outfit the Stingray Series 260 Class DP2 PSVs.

Robichaux says it is delivering more and more diesel electric propulsion systems to the local maritime industry. “The list of customers that we are delivering equipment to continues to grow,” says company Vice President Dennis Robichaux in a Robichaux news release. “In fact our current backlog is higher than it’s been in the history of the company with more opportunities to come.”

Robichaux is under contract to provide a complete diesel electric system including two 480 VAC water cooled active front end variable frequency drives to control two 950-hp electric bow thrusters, one 480 VAC ship service switchboard, one emergency service switchboard and four motor control centers. In addition, Robichaux will provide an engineer’s operating station, an ABS ACCU, DPS-2 approved alarm, monitoring and power management system all to be installed on Bordelon Marine’s new Stingray Series 260 Class DP2 PSVs.

After a successful ABS factory test, Robichaux reports it has delivered their certified diesel electric system to Bordelon Maine on time and on budget. Robichaux continues to work closely with Bordelon Marine to support the vessel build schedule, the company says, as well as support all Robichaux equipment on the vessels.
