MPG offers new insurance program for commercial vessels

Maritime Program Group announces the launch of a new insurance program with North American Specialty (A+ admitted paper by Swiss Re) for commercial vessels.

The Westbrook, Conn.-based specialty insurance program company, which offers 20-plus years of in-house underwriting experience, says its new program for commercial vessels includes nearshore commercial fishing vessels, including rod and reel, lobster, and aquaculture support vessels; marine contracting barges and workboats, research vessels, municipal and state vessels, including fire, rescue and patrol; marine transportation, marine towing, vessels under construction, environmental monitoring and fishing guide boats.

MPG’s commercial vessel program is available in all regions of the continental United States, Hawaii and Alaska, the company says. All policies are direct bill through MPG’s state of the art billing platform, MPG says, offering convenient broker and insured online access to billing information.

“MPG has been writing six-pack charters and passenger vessels with North American Specialty for years,” says John Sterling, MPG’s vice president of ocean marine in a company press release, “so the expanded capabilities to write this class of business, coupled with our knowledgeable ocean marine underwriters and timely turnaround for quotes and policy issuance, positions us as one of the premier ocean marine facilities in the nation.”
