McAllister names new president

NEW YORK – McAllister Towing & Transportation announced this week that Buckley McAllister (far right in the photo accompanying this article) has been promoted to company president. He was formerly vice president and general counsel. Capt. Brian McAllister, his father (and closest to the camera in the photo), had been president since 1984 and has been working at the company since 1959. He will remain with the company as chairman.

Buckley McAllister also currently serves as director of the U.S. Coast Guard Foundation and vice chairman of the American Waterways Operators. He has been with his family company since 1998, when he left the law firm Hill, Betts, and Nash.

Buckley represents the fifth generation of McAllisters to operate McAllister Towing since its inception in 1864. Brian is a member of the fourth generation. He and the other fourth-generation members bought the company from the third generation in 1974.

Buckley is one of five members of the fifth generation (Capt. AJ McAllister and Eric McAllister are to the left in the photo) serving in an executive position with the company.
