Horizon to build Z-drive towboat for Army Corps of Engineers

Horizon Shipbuilding has been awarded a contract by the Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District, to build the Shorty Baird Replacement, a 95′ Z-drive towboat. This is the latest of three recent Army Corps of Engineers contracts for Bayou La Batre, Ala.,-based Horizon. The company delivered the George Grugett, a 114′ towboat, in August of this year, and the General Irwin, a 58′ towboat, in April of 2012.
