Conrad lands new ferry contract, sells six tank barges

MORGAN CITY, La. – Conrad Industries today announced a contract to build an 180-foot ferry and the sale of six stock tank barges as part of its 2011 financial results.

The new ferry will be 180’x46’x12’ with capacity for 400 passengers plus cargo, the company said. And in the first quarter of 2012, the company sold six 297’6”x54’x12’ 30,000-bbl. tank barges, which were stock barges in progress at the end of 2011.

This news comes on the heels of a 2011 that saw Conrad bring in net income of $19.2 million, an 86 percent increase over 2010. The company now has a backlog of $68.7 million, compared to $47.1 million at the end of 2011, and $89.5 million at the end of 2010.
