Conrad boosts backlog with new contracts

Conrad Industries, Morgan City, La., recently signed new contracts and sold a number of stock barges. The company’s current estimated backlog is approximately $92.8 million. That compares to backlogs of $86.1 million in September 2010, $41 million in June 2010, and $38.3 million in December 2009. The new contracts include two 245’x48’x12′ liquefied-petroleum-gas tank barges, and two 222’x54’x12′ LPG tank barges with 16,000-bbl. capacities designed for inland waterway operations. Other new business includes a 250’x72’x12′ crane barge and six 120′ deck barges. Conrad did not disclose the names of the customers.
