The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education, welfare and morale of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today it has received a $25,000 grant from the Motorola Solutions Foundation’s Public Safety and Security Institute. A charitable arm of Motorola Solutions Inc., the Motorola Solutions Foundation’s Public Safety Grants aim to support safety education and training programs for first responders, their families and the general public in the United States and Canada. Through the grant, the Coast Guard Foundation will support its scholarship program that currently helps 80 children of enlisted United States Coast Guard personnel attend college each year.
“Thanks to this generous grant from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, we will be able to make a difference for the children of Coast Guard members who are this nation’s first responders,” said Anne B. Brengle, president, Coast Guard Foundation. “The students who receive our scholarship grants are among the best and brightest in their classes, and are of the highest character. I am so proud that our 2013 scholars will be supported through this generous gift from Motorola Solutions Foundation.”
