Apr. 13–A barge carrying scrap metal capsized this morning about eight miles west of Astoria, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Canadian-based tug General Jackson reported the barge, carrying metal and 500 gallons of diesel fuel, went down at about 7:30 a.m.
There are no reports of injuries or pollution. A Coast Guard lifeboat and helicopter are on the scene.
It is unknown if the load was lost or why it capsized.
