Charlie Robertson’s passenger vessel company, American Cruise Lines , specializes in a unique style of small-ship cruising along the inland waterways, bays and rivers of the U.S. East Coast.
The vessels’ shallow draft permits them to navigate the inland waterways and dock at ports where larger ships are unable to go.
Six-, seven- and 14-night itineraries include Maine, New England islands, the Hudson River, Chesapeake Bay and Florida. American Cruise Lines operates four vessels, ranging in size from 49 to 100 passengers. A fifth vessel, the 104-passenger Independence, is currently under construction at ACL’s Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Md. It will go into service in June 2010 with its maiden voyage planned for Chesapeake Bay.
