Naiad Inflatables has received an order for a 15-meter pilot boat from the Matagorda Bay Pilots, Port Lavaca,Texas. The boat will replace one of their existing vessels.
Naiad’s 15-meter pilot vessel is a proven platform with 10 sister-ships in service. Design and engineering of the vessel was done by Naiad Design of Picton, New Zealand.
Construction is well underway at Naiad Inflatables primary fabrication facility in Tiverton, R.I., with delivery scheduled for the fall.
This new vessel will be powered by twin Scania DI13 77M 700-hp marine diesels that utilize Twin Disc gears driving SS shafts with Michigan Wheel 4-bladed propellers. Top speed tops 30 knots.
The cabin area is well appointed with Shockwave seating, full electronics, and air conditioning. The cabin top is outfitted with a rooftop boarding system. Adding a small auxiliary control station on the cabin top is currently begin evaluated by the owners.
Fendering is a Naiad proprietary foam core system, proven in over 12 years of commercial service to date. It’s large cross section offers better protection and better shock absorption than the smaller, denser materials offered by many of our competitors, according to Naiad.
