New England Ropes, a leading manufacturer of premium quality rope since 1967, welcomes new hire James Collins as their manufacturers’ representative for their Pleasure Marine Division. Collins, whose office will be based in California, will support sales efforts in California and the southwest, including Texas.
Collins has been in and around the sailing industry his entire life. He learned how to splice his first three-strand rope at age seven, which further enhanced his early fascination with cordage and his overall love for sailing. During college, Collins began working for the local North Sails loft in Austin, Texas. This lead to a seven-year opportunity working as a Category Manager for West Marine where Collins regularly purchased cordage directly from New England Ropes thereby further familiarizing himself with the full New England Ropes product line.
In 2006, Collins changed careers but not industries when he accepted a position with The Chuck Frederick Company as a Manufacturers Representative. Most recently, Collins founded a new firm called Collins Outdoor Recreational Equipment (C.O.R.E).
“We are very excited that James Collins has decided to come on board. His extensive experience both in the industry and with our product line will be an invaluable asset to New England Ropes as well as a wonderful resource to our customers” says Kevin Coughlin, Market Manager, Pleasure Marine.
