On Aug. 2, WorkBoat Senior Editor Ken Hocke attended the christening of the William S, a new 100'x38' reverse tractor tug built at Main Iron Works, in Houma, La., for New Orleans-based Bisso Towboat Co. The festivities were held on the Mississippi River at the New Orleans Hilton Hotel.
After the ceremony, Hocke caught up with Bill Slatten Jr., executive vice president for Bisso. The two talked about the new ASD tug's features, what the 4,000-hp William S will be tasked with, and Slatten's outlook on the economic future of the Port of New Orleans.
