Noreq was
recently awarded the contract for lifeboats, davits, fast rescue boat and rescue
boat davit for six drill ships Maersk Drilling is building with Samsung Heavy
Industries in South Korea.
The contract
is valid for all drill ships and consists of 6pcs 80-persons lifeboats together
with belonging davit and one fast rescue boat with davit for each ship. Thus a
total of 36 lifeboats and davits are ordered. The contract, the company says,
is the largest in Noreq’s history.
The Samsung contract
is one of many major contracts awarded to Noreq recently, the company says.
“2012 and
2013 are looking to be very promising for our company, and we are proud to be
approved by the biggest players in our industry,” says Styrk Bekkenes, managing
director for Noreq, in a company press release. ”We are confident that more
orders are coming our way as even more yards and owners discover the benefits
of our davit system.”
