NEW ORLEANS - One of the hottest topics of conversation at the most-recent WorkBoat show involved the need for well-trained workers. Any number of potential employers said they'd hire people tomorrow if they could find competently trained people, whether for the shipyard or to crew their boats.
One of the companies looking to chip in and help with this problem is Transas, makers of 3D virtual training simulation solutions, which have been installed at a number of prominent maritime training academies and facilities. While on the show floor, online editor Sam Pfeifle caught up with Transas VP Neil Bennett to talk about advances in training technology, how reality can truly be simulated, and where we go from here.
