Waterways Council Inc. presented Rep. Nick Rahall II (D-W.Va.), ranking member of the House
Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, with its 11th annual Leadership
Service Award on Feb. 15 in Washington, D.C.
The Arlington, Va.-based council’s
award recognizes champions of the nation’s inland waterways and port
system.
Rahall has served on the Transportation
and Infrastructure Committee for 34 years, his entire tenure in Congress, and
has been a key architect in the formulation of every Water Resources
Development Act since coming to Congress, the council says, including serving
on the conference committee to the landmark WRDA of 1986, as well as the
conference to the most recent WRDA in 2007.
