Roger King has joined the safety and learning group of
Crowley Maritime Corp. as senior corporate safety director.
King will work out of the company’s Jacksonville, Fla.
headquarters and report to Suz Michel, vice president, safety and learning. In
his role, King will oversee marine and terminal safety, quality, and regulatory
training, as well as provide support for Crowley’s operations integrity group.
He will focus on improving Crowley’s safety management system and support the
company’s many business units.
“Roger brings a wealth of experience from working in this
field within various industries,” Michel said in a company press release. “We
are confident that his knowledge and leadership will not only help enhance our
corporate safety
strategies, but also help us continue to set company-wide standards
for protecting our most important asset, our people.”
Prior to joining Crowley, King was a director at Pfizer,
responsible for leading the environmental, health and safety, site services,
facility and security operations for vaccine manufacturing, R&D and animal
healthcare operations. King has also held several management positions in the
heavy manufacturing, biotechnology and military defense technology industries.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in workforce education and
development from Southern Illinois, a master’s degree of aerospace/aeronautical
science in safety management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and is
working towards a Ph.D. in organization and management from Capella
University.
