ShipConstructor Software Inc. says
it’s continuing to expand its involvement in the U.S. National Shipbuilding
Research Program, created to advance technology and help shipbuilders increase
efficiency.
Alongside six other industry partners, SSI USA will
participate in a $1.4 million project entitled “Production Planning Integration
with CAD” whose objective is to “decrease man-hours and eliminate errors by
automating the data exchange from a Product Data Model or Computer-Assisted
Design model into a Production Planning System.” This project will leverage
work done on a previous NSRP “Enterprise Resource Planning Integration with
CAD” project.
“A fundamental part of our company’s philosophy is to
promote interoperability between various applications used in the shipbuilding
process,” explained Patrick Roberts, director of operations for ShipConstructor
USA in a company press release. “The ShipConstructor Product Data Model
contains a wealth of critical information and so our goal has always been
focused towards enhancing the ease of sharing that data with other
programs."
The project will be led by Bollinger Shipyards and other team members include VT Halter Marine,
Marinette Marine Corp.,BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards, Genoa Design International and
Praeses, LLC.
