The RBNA Classification Society has certified
the Caterpillar 3500C diesel electric propulsion generator set packages to meet
local content regulations in Brazil.
RBNA, a division of ANP, certified the 3500C
products meet in excess of 60 percent local content. Caterpillar expanded
operations in Brazil in third quarter 2011 to package marine and oil and gas products in
the Piracicaba, Sao Paulo, Brazil facility.
“As we continue to expand our marine and
petroleum operations in Brazil, a central strategic goal we have is to maximize
our local content,” says Gregg Macdonald, Brazil 3500 program manager, in a
Caterpillar press release. “Improving our customers’ operations is our top
priority and we are pleased to offer high local content solutions that enable
our customers to take advantage of business incentives.”
Commonly utilized in offshore, inland water
ways, tug and salvage and cargo applications, the 3500C diesel electric
propulsion generator set packages have a stellar reputation as proven providers
of consistent power and reliable performance, Caterpillar says. In many cases, Cat
says, the 3500 packages assembled in Piracicaba offer sufficient local content
to meet BNDES special financing requirements. All engine ratings are IMO II
certified.
All products sold in Brazil are backed by
Caterpillar’s customer support and the Cat dealer network, which offers
round-the-clock service and support at more than 2,200 dealer locations in 200
countries. Three Cat dealers are conveniently located in Brazil: Sotreq, Marcosa
and Pesa.
