Integrated satellite communications and software solutions
provider for the maritime industry Boatracs Inc. has acquired a 12,500
square-foot office building in San Diego as a space for its corporate
headquarters. Boatracs will occupy the building to house general operations,
engineering, shipping and its network operations center for 24-hour live
customer support.
The investment represents a major highlight in Boatracs’
history, the company says, and further solidifies its infrastructure for its continuing
growth and success. Boatracs was founded in San Diego 22 years ago, as the
strategic provider of Qualcomm’s satellite communications products and services
to the marine industry.
The company says it continues to serve the inland and
offshore workboat, commercial fishing and government sectors of the industry
and has evolved to offering multiple satellite communications hardware systems
along with its own fleet management software. A sales office is also maintained
in New Iberia, La., to serve its Gulf of Mexico customers.
“We are extremely
proud to have obtained this building for our new headquarters,” said Irwin
Rodrigues, president and CEO of Boatracs, in a company press release. “With the
launch of two new products in 2011, and additional services scheduled for
release throughout 2012, this facility is ideally suited to accommodate our
growth strategy. The purchase demonstrates the commitment and strong long-term
outlook we have for the maritime industry and for our business.”
