VT Halter Marine Inc. (VT Halter Marine), has become a member of the IMAGE program with U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers
(IMAGE) provides businesses an opportunity to partner with the agency to
develop a more secure and stable workforce, the Pascagoula, Miss.-based company
says.
Through its participation in the IMAGE program, VT Halter
Marine establishes a formal partnership with law enforcement to follow best
hiring practices as the program suggests and to implement staff training to
comply with the high standards the program requires, the company says.
In addition, the boatyard’s participation enables VT Halter
Marine, a subsidiary of VT Systems Inc. (VT Systems), to use tools offered by
the federal government to screen employees, such as E-Verify, which ensures
they are lawfully authorized to work in the United States.
“VT Halter Marine is committed to the protection of our
workforce,” says Bill Skinner, VT Halter Marine’s chief executive officer, in a
company press release. “By partnering with IMAGE, we are helping to ensuring a
safer and more secure work environment for all of our employees.”
