U.S. Shipping Corp. received the 2011 Jones F. Devlin Award for Safety from the Chamber of Shipping
of America for the Edison, N.J.-based company’s safety record during the CSA’s
2012 Annual Safety Awards luncheon in New Orleans.
The CSA represents 37 U.S.-based companies that own, operate
or charter ocean-going tank, container, or dry bulk vessels engaged in both the
domestic and international trades and companies that maintain a commercial
interest in the operation of such oceangoing vessels. Six of seven of USSC’s
vessels received the award totaling 21 years of service without a Lost Time
Incident.
In May 2012, USSC received the 2012 Silver Category Biennial
Rear Adm. William M. Benkert, Marine Environmental Protection Award for
Excellence from the U.S. Coast Guard at the American Petroleum Institute Tanker
Conference in Orlando, Fla. The program recognizes corporations and businesses
involved in marine facility or vessel operations that have demonstrated
sustained excellence and outstanding achievement in protecting the marine
environment.
“It is an honor to be recognized for our dedication to
operating our fleet safely to protect our crew members and the environment”
said USSC Chief Operating Officer, Bill Braman, in a company press release. “We
are committed to continually improving our safety record and our focus on
environmental stewardship in our daily operations.”
